I don't know why but Loch of King Gordy is a place I don't visit very often. For one thing, the bridge is out on the road I would ideally use and that creates quite a long diversion to and from. I only go during the week because it can get way too busy at the weekends. So I was over on July 12th, I had planned to head to Scurdie Ness but it was too late in the day and the light wasn't that great anyway so, here I was.
I stopped in the Gullery hide for a while with a few other folks with cameras and scopes but it was pretty quiet so I headed over to the Swamp hide.
On my wander over a Wren popped onto a very close branch and stood calling, great photo opportunity but, I had the camera in the bag so by the time I wrestled it out ...... gone :) Them's the breaks.
There was no-one else in there when I arrived so I settled myself in the corner, that gave me two windows to shoot from and I know there were Sedge Warblers and Reed Buntings nesting nearby so, I settled in to wait.
There were a lot of Mallard all over the loch, several Mute Swans, some with young and the usual gathering of gulls swooping around, otherwise, quiet.
The Sedge Warblers started to appear, they're obviously feeding young as they were out, gather bugs, back again, constantly which meant I was treated to some pretty close opportunities.
There are tall reeds and grasses all around the hide and the birds flit between them constantly.
